Measure transport demand
Record unit dimensions, load weight, peak hours and pickup and drop-off points. Technology comparison is incomplete without these inputs.
Separate the roles
Consider AMRs for flexible point-to-point transport, shuttles for dense storage and retrieval, and sorters for directing items to destinations. A facility may need more than one.
Verify integration
Test warehouse software, safety scenarios, charging and maintenance together in a pilot. Nominal speed alone is not a sufficient selection criterion.
